Import contacts

Overview

Under Contact module → Contacts → Import contacts you upload a CSV file to create multiple contacts, leads, and optionally institutions at once.

Note: You need permissions to create and edit contacts, leads, and institutions across the organization. Without these rights, import is not available.

Features

Upload CSV

  1. Open Import contacts (button in the contact overview).
  2. Choose a CSV file with a header row. Column names are free-form.
  3. ERADIANT shows a preview of the rows.

One row per contact. Each contact needs at least first name, last name, email, or artist name.

Map columns

  1. Map each CSV column to an Eradiant field (e.g. first name, email, lead event).
  2. Each import field may only be mapped to one column.

Multiple leads per contact: The first lead can be in the contact row. Each additional lead gets its own row below — fill in only lead columns there (e.g. event, categories).

Map values

Salutation categories, institutions, responsible persons, events, and lead categories are specified by name or ID. ERADIANT maps recognized values automatically; you resolve the rest manually:

  • Salutation categories, institutions, responsible persons, events, lead categories
  • Unknown institutions can be created as Create new institution

Lead categories are resolved per event — the event must be mapped in the row first.

Start import

  1. Review the preview and all mappings.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Confirm the number of contacts and leads in the dialog.

The import runs in a transaction — if anything fails, nothing is applied.

Fields (selection)

Contact: First name, last name, artist name, title, salutation category, email, phone, address, comment, biography, responsible person, institution, position

Lead: Lead event, lead categories, invite manually, manual voucher code

Note: State is merged with city (City, State).

Usage

Use import for larger contact datasets before invitation mailings or lead campaigns. Set up salutation categories and lead categories beforehand.

Important notes

  • Column headers must not contain dots and must be unique.
  • Lead categories require a mapped lead event in the same row.
  • Whether multiple categories per lead are allowed depends on event settings.
  • Invite manually accepts true, 1, or yes (case insensitive).
